REVIEW -- Save Your Sweaters with Lilly Brush!

Not necessarily beauty related, but we all have those favorite sweaters that have seen better days and could use a little TLC, right? ...Right? Please tell me it's not just me! Enter the Lilly Brush!

The Lilly Brush is like a magic wand with nylon bristles! Banishing pill balls on cotton, wool, and cashmere, angora, hemp, and alpaca to an early death, it saves all of your beloved sweaters from the donation pile and keeps them hanging in your closet where they belong!

The best part? Unlike those battery operated sweater shaver things or regular old razors, the Lilly Brush will NOT leave a hole in your sweater (Or your finger! Ouch!), and it also has a handy lid that is embossed with a sleek houndstooth  design so that you can easily take it with you on the go.

To use the brush, you simply apply moderate pressure and sweep it across the garment in any direction to make short work of pills, pet hair, lint, and light soil. For washable fabrics, the Lilly Brush can be dampened before use to eliminate static.

To clean your brush, wash it with light soap, rinse, and tap briskly to remove excess water.

The Lilly Brush is currently available in Classic Red and Charcoal Grey, and retails for $12.95 each. You can purchase the brushes on the Lilly Brush website.
I was super excited to receive my Lilly Brush in the mail. Since I have to wear a "third piece" (read: sweater/jacket/blazer) as part of my required work outfit, several of my black cardigans are looking decidedly worse for wear after a year and a half of very frequent use.. And we all know that nothing shows pill balls as badly as black does.

I figured the Lilly Brush would be the perfect thing to save me from having to toss my beloved cardigans and invest in new ones! Here's how it performed:

As you can see, it made a moderate improvement, but it didn't really "remove" the pills, it kind of just stretched them and "smeared" them down. I didn't quite end up with the results shown on their "Before & Afters" page, but my sweater was also decidedly worse than the ones they pictured. Yes, I'm embarrassed that I let it get that far. But to be fair, I had taken this one out of my regular rotation and was using it only in "nothing else is clean and I'm late for work" emergencies!

I think the Lilly Brush is a decent product with good potential. I love that it's another alternative to the lint brushes that don't really work well, or the electric shaver things that have the potential to put holes in your sweaters! I also think it would be great for people who travel frequently, due to the compact design and handy snap-tight lid. Finally, the price point is decent. $12.50 is about what I would expect to pay for a product like this in a store like Brookstone or Bed Bath & Beyond.

Again, I think if my sweater hadn't been such a hot mess, I would have had better results.. but I'm still giving it a 3.5 out of 5 stars based on the principle that I was hoping for a happier ending for my cardigan.

RATING: 3.5 out of 5 STARS
