NOTD -- PSHIIIT-Inspired Purple/Blue Gradient

Hey everyone! Today I have some super cute (and super easy!) nails for you. I was totally inspired by THIS post by the ever-amazing Pshiiit. In her version, she used Nfu Oh 13 and OPI's Last Friday Night. I... have neither of those polishes, so I subbed what I had in my stash that was similar.

For the purple, I used 2-3 coats (depending on the finger) of Essence's A Lovely Secret. It's a lilac/lavender with a heavy pinky-purple shimmer to it. Unfortunately, the shimmer doesn't really show up on the nail, but it's gorgeous in the bottle. Next, I did a quick (read: sloppy) gradient with a very thinned out Sinful Colors Hottie. I don't know how the quality of OPI's Last Friday Night is, but Hottie is a dead on dupe.. just with a formula like glue. I think I used about 30 drops of thinner to get it to a reasonable enough consistency where I could successfully make the gradient fade correctly.

To do the fade, I swiped one extremely thin coat of Hottie from about 2/3 of the nail down to the tip. I let that dry, then swiped a second coat 1/3 of the nail down to the tip. After that dried, I went back and just added a third coat to the very tips of my nails.

1 coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast top coat blended everything together seamlessly and gave the mani a gorgeous shine. I think Pshiiit did her gradient a bit differently, and her base was a lighter purple than mine.. but I like mine just the same! It's a cute mani that's still understated, yet fun! :)

  1. It is super super cute! I like the idea of using thinner to make glitters a little less goopy. Totally trying this with different colors soon! :)

  2. Thanks, Melanie! Pshiiit also did a very similar one with a blue base instead of the purple one and it looks amazing too! I want to try that one soon. What colors are you thinking of using?! :)
