BIRCHBOX -- His & Hers: June 2012

Hey everyone! Happy Monday.. which is really one of the biggest oxymorons ever, isn't it? Monday is usually my day off, but I'm working 10-4 today and won't get another day off until Friday. Can't say I'm thrilled, but at least I had the whole weekend off for Chris' frisbee tournament. I always try to look at the positives!

Today I have the goodies from our June Birchboxes to share with you! Chris was so excited to receive his second box after the awesome box he received last month.. and I'm always looking forward to mine as well. I believe this month was my 11th box! Almost one year! :)

Let's take a look at what we got..

This month's box was themed around creativity and inventing, so Chris got 2 "lifestyle" products in addition to three innovative grooming ones. Here's the breakdown:

John Allan's | Slickwater | $29
A protective pre-shave solution that prevents razor drag and irritation.

Benta Berry | Super Moisturizing Face Cream | $20
An all-natural face lotion that dries to a non-greasy matte finish.

Supersmile | Whitening System | $36
Toothpaste and an accelerator to whiten your chompers.

Quirky | Cordies | $10
An antidote to that mess of power cords and chargers on your desk.

Quirky | Wrapster | $7
A nifty invention for neatly stashing your headphones on the go. Also works as a phone stand.

Favorite Item: "The Wrapster. I'm always having a hard time keeping up with my headphones or getting them tangled. This will make my life easier."

"Leave It" Item: "Moisturizing face cream? I've never used anything like it and don't think I even really need it. I'll probably just pass it off to Mandy."

And the rest: "The Slickwater seems like a cool idea. I'm interested to see how well it works. Supersmile isn't high on my list of grooming habits, but it's always nice to have whiter teeth. And the Cordies would be better if we had a desktop or a set 'office' space. Maybe one day."

Sorry.. I don't know why my picture came out so dark! :\
My box centered on jetsetting and vacays.. who doesn't want to just pack up and go during summer?! I received 4 travel-ready beauty products and 1 "lifestyle" product.

Georgie Beauty | winks by Georgie | $28
Add these all-natural, easy-to-apply faux lashes to your makeup bag and bring glamour with you on the road.

Hair Rules | Volumizing Shampoo | $15
Developed by one of New York's top salons, this sulfate-free cleanser builds body and repairs split ends.

La Fresh | Eco-Beauty Oil-Free Face Cleanser | 30 wipes, $9.99
Even the most stubborn mascara yields to these biodegradable wipes, which are laced with moisturizing jojoba and other plant oils.

theBalm cosmetics | Stainiac in Beauty Queen | $17
We're crazy about this two-in-one lip and cheek stain: the sheer gel formula delivers a subtle, long-wearing flush.

tili | Bags | Pack of 9-12, $8.49 - $9.49
Breeze through airport security with these too-cute plastic bags. They're perfectly sized for storing all of your travel essentials (and beauty samples)

Favorite Item(s): This month, I have a two-way tie for first. I'm kind of a shampoo junkie, and have heard such great things about the Hair Rules line. We have a hard time keeping it in stock at work, so I'm very excited to try that. Another thing I'm obsessed with? Face wipes. Can't get enough of them. I'm thrilled that I've got two new ones from La Fresh to try!

"Leave It" Item(s): I also have a three-way tie for items I just don't care about this month. A fancy tili Ziploc plastic bag? Seriously, Birchbox? Next, even though the winkies by George look gorgeous, I so rarely wear false lashes that I can't even think about how long it will be before I use these. Plus, I have never figured out how to apply them.. which means I'm either going to have to have a friend do it or pay to have them applied at my work. Both options are inconvenient. Lastly, I was moderately excited to try the Stainiac gel from theBalm. I've heard such good things about the brand and have wanted to try a tinted stain for a while. Unfortunately, it's completely underwhelming on my skin.

Before blending...

After blending. Where'd it go??
All in all, this box was kind of a bust for me.. but I'm so excited about the two products I like that it completely makes up for the three that I didn't! :)
