REVIEW -- Stila 'Precious Metals' Holiday Smudge Sticks

Source.

Hey everyone! Today I have another Holiday liner review for you! These are the Stila Precious Metals Smudge Sticks. I'm really on a liner kick right now, and the holidays are a great time to get some fabulous limited edition sets!

THE PRODUCT:
Stila Smudge Sticks are waterproof twist up liners that come in an array of colors. These two are metallic: gold (Koi) and silver (SilverDollar).

You have a couple of options for buying the Precious Metals liners. You can get the holiday set (valued at $40) on Stila's website for $25, or you can buy them individually on the site for $10 instead of their $20 retail price. Clearly, it would be better to buy them individually... although I thought buying things in sets was usually supposed to be cheaper?

Ulta had the set on special on Black Friday for $10.. and I originally missed out on the deal. Imagine my surprise when I found one set sitting all by its' lonesome on a promo shelf over the weekend! I snatched it up and was amazed to find it was still ringing up at the Black Friday price of $10. By the time my discounts were taken off, I managed to get BOTH liners for $6. Deal of a lifetime!

MY RESULTS:
This is my first experience with the Stila Smudge Sticks, and the first thing that drew me in was the pigmentation. Seriously.. SilverDollar looks like tin foil, it's so rich and shiny! Koi is pigmented too, but Silver Dollar shows up much better against my skin. Plus, both colors are perfect for adding some glam to your look during the holiday season!

I don't know how water proof they are, but once they set they don't smudge or budge.. so I assume they'd hold up well in water too! They wear well for up to 16 hours (that's the longest I've worn them) and they are very easy to remove.

My only problem with them is the actual "stick"... It's so hard to get the product to twist up. One of my coworkers said many people come in with the same complaint and that it just takes a lot of repeated twisting. She's right.. the product does eventually twist up. You just need a lot of patience.

FINAL VERDICT & RATING:
While I love the liners themselves, I'm pretty bummed with how difficult the packaging is to use. Especially since these things retail for $20 a piece. I have $3 Rimmel twist up liners that are easier to twist than the Stilas.

Because of that, I'm giving the Stila Precious Metals Smudge Sticks 4.0 out of 5 stars.
RATING: 4.0 out of 5 STARS

I wish I'd been able to find a couple more packs of these because $6 for two Stila Smudge Sticks is a seriously fantastic deal. Oh well, I guess there's always online or maybe they'll bring them back next year!

  3. Gorgeous! Stila has always been one of my fave makeup brands =) Bummer that the packaging is kind of lame though.
