REVIEW -- Maybelline's Color Sensational #140 Fuchsia Fever Lipstick

Hey everyone! I'm back with a review for you. I'm trying to post some regular beauty things along with doing the 31 day challenge.. because I know not everyone is as interested in polish as I am. :)

This is going to be a quick review of Maybelline's Color Sensational Fuchsia Fever lipstick. I recently talked about it in my last "Three Things I'm Loving Right Now" post.. but I knew I still wanted to give it some more love and show you swatches of it.

I really love the formula of the Color Sensational line.. the lipsticks are non-drying and last a relatively long time. Plus... the color selection they have is amazing. Literally, there's something for everyone! And the fact that they retail for under $7 and are widely available is another huge plus in my book.

Fuchsia Fever is a blue-toned bright fuchsia that is definitely a statement-making lipstick. Even though I've started wearing this almost every day, I really try to keep the rest of my face neutral because it can be a bit overwhelming.. especially with the hot pink streaks in my hair!

I've found the best way to apply it is using a lipstick brush.. or in my case, an E.L.F. concealer brush. It's easier to get a precise application that way, and then once I've got my color base down, I go back and apply another layer of lipstick straight from the tube. I also feel like this helps the color adhere to my lips better and therefore increases its wear time.

Now.. onto pretty pictures!

Here is one coat of Fuchsia Fever applied with a brush. You can see that one layer, while still bright, is a bit sheer and I feel like this would be extremely wearable even if you tend to shy away from bright lip colors. It's a creamy lipstick that has shine, but not shimmer. It makes your lips look a little "wet" right after you apply it, but it eventually dries down to a matte.

Here's what you get after applying a second coat of lipstick straight from the tube. You can see how intense and opaque the color is now! And it still has that "wet" look. I am a HUGE gloss fan, but I find myself not even needing to apply a dab of gloss to improve this lipstick.. it looks fabulous on its own!

FINAL VERDICT & RATING:
There's not one thing that I dislike about this lipstick! It's non-drying and non-sticky, as well as long-lasting. There are tons of shades available in the Color Sensational line and the price point is great. Plus, as I mentioned, nearly every mass retailer carries Maybelline.. so you won't have a hard time finding a tube of your own, regardless of the color you desire.

I never thought I'd end up loving a color this bright (especially for every day use), but Fuchsia Fever is the perfect shade for my skin tone and I always get tons of compliments on it when I wear it. I also love that the color is buildable and that you can achieve different levels of intensity with it.

For these reasons, I'm thrilled to give it a PERFECT SCORE of 5 out of 5 stars!
RATING: 5.0 out of 5 STARS

Have you ever tried Fuchsia Fever or any of the other Maybelline Color Sensational lipsticks? If so, I'd love to hear about your favorite shade(s)!
