31 DAY CHALLENGE -- Day 20: Water Marbled

Hey everyone! Today is Day 20 of the challenge.. Which means it is officially 2/3 of the way through, and it's the day I have dreaded most of the entire challenge: WATER MARBLED NAILS.

I've tried water marbling before and never succeeded at it. Never. And I almost didn't succeed this time. I tried for FOUR HOURS the other night. I tried different polishes: shimmers, cremes, glitters, holos, jellies. I tried cold water, warm water and room temperature water. I tried putting a drop of white in first to see if that would help.. NOTHING worked.

And then I became desperate. Day 20 is Water Marbling. The prompt thingy says so.. There was no way to avoid it.. It was coming up fast. After desperation came defiance. I was NOT about to fail the challenge over stupid water marbling. What kind of a blogger would I be?!

So I went and bought a bottle of purified drinking water off the shelf to make sure it was room temperature, and I bought a small cup instead of the bowl I'd been using. The combination of these changes led to the moderate success you see above.

It's not the best water marbling out there, but hey. I didn't fail the challenge because of water marbling.. and by not failing that means I HAVE SUCCEEDED.

Earl tried to lend me moral support while I struggled, cursed and cried (yes, really).. He did a lousy job, but he's still pretty darn cute:

OH! The polishes I used... Wow. Duh. 1 coat of Sinful Colors' Snow Me White as a base, then Sinful Daddy's Girl and OPI DS Coronation provide the pretty swirlies!

For the record, I will NOT be attempting this again.
