REVIEW -- Murad's Intensive Resurfacing Peel

Hey everyone! I'm back with the final installment of my Murad skincare products that I received for review. (To read the review I did on Murad's Acne & Aging Skin Solutions pack, click here.) This one is on the Intensive Resurfacing Peel. I got a 4 pack of them and I've used it once a week for the past month.

By now, I'm sure y'all know that I am in love with any type of peel, mask, or exfoliating scrub. I love how they make my skin feel and I always feel so pampered when I use one. So how did the Intensive Resurfacing Peel fair? Read on to find out!

The Intensive Resurfacing Peel with Durian Cell Reform works to reveal younger skin by resurfacing to lessen superficial fine lines and wrinkles and by brightening the tone and smoothing the texture of your skin.

It combines the benefits of a peel with gentle microdermabrasion. Bamboo beads provide mechanical micro-exfoliation to buff away build up, further reducing the appearance of wrinkles. It also has dried plum extract and vitamin C to brighten skin for a youthful glow.

I was really interested in what Durian is. I'd never heard of it before! So I did some research. Apparently it is the newest beauty "superfruit" and has been used for centuries in Eastern medicine.
Dr. Murad's  latest beauty innovation is called Durian Cell Reform and is a blend of Durian and Glycolic Acid. It helps prolong your skin's youthful-looking state by enhancing the penetration of the anti-aging ingredients, reversing the visible signs of aging on the surface and at the cellular level, and by providing hydration, antioxidant protection and anti-inflammatory benefits.

The peels come in several package amounts. 1 treatment retails for $12, 4 treatments retail for $45, and 12 retail for $165. They're available on Murad's website, in store and online at Ulta and at other various retailers.

The instructions say to smooth the peel onto your face and neck after cleansing and toning. You're supposed to leave it on for up to 10 minutes and then gently rinse with warm water. For optimal results, you're supposed to use the peel once a week and then follow with a Murad moisturizer and sunblock.

I was a little worried when I read the leaflet and it said "Formula is intense and if you have sensitive skin, you may only be able to leave product on for a few minutes to start. With continued use, product can be left on for longer increments." I don't have really sensitive skin, but I was like 'Whoaaa.. this stuff must be legit.'

I was determined though, and decided to try for the whole 10 minutes the first time I used it. It did tingle and kind of burn.. and about halfway through, I thought I was going to have to give up and rinse it off.. but I stuck it out and the results were SO worth it!

My skin was instantly smoother, softer and brighter. Thankfully, I don't have fine lines or wrinkles yet, so I don't know how effective it is at erasing those, but since it did such an awesome job of resurfacing my skin, I'd imagine it would diminish them over time.

The peel itself is white and has a slippery (almost like oily without being oily?) consistency. It also does have little white beads in it that I assume are the bamboo. The tubes are supposed to be single use, but I found that it just ends up being waaaaaayyyy too much on my face, so I actually only use half of one tube per peel. I still get great results and double the number of peels I have per box! It works for me!

I really like the Intensive Resurfacing Peel, especially since I can half the application and get twice as many uses out of them. Like I said, I have used it faithfully every week for the past month and I still have two tubes (half of the box) left. However, I think this would be a peel I use on a more infrequent basis.. maybe bi-monthly instead of weekly? I do really like how it makes my face feel so I'm sure I will continue to buy and use them. My only deterrent is the price... I'm still on a retail salary so I can't go spend-crazy. Therefore, I give them 4.5 out of 5 stars.
RATING: 4.5 out of 5 STARS

So I think this is the longest I've ever spent trying to write an entry.. I've been at it for over 4 and a half hours now! Amanda from MaDManis, Steph from Imperfectly Painted and Amanda from Nail Polish Enthusiast and I have been talking kitties on Twitter all night. It was a crazy and hilarious convo, let me tell you! :D

Anyways, I hope you've enjoyed learning about Dr. Howard Murad and some of the products from the Murad Skincare Line. I'm so thrilled that I was able to review these because I doubt I would have initially splurged on them for myself, but now that I know how awesome they are and how much they've improved my skin.. I'll definitely be using them for a long time to come!

Thanks for reading and have a great day! I'll be enjoying my much deserved day off today. :)
