REVIEW -- Murad's 'Acne & Aging' Skin Solution Pack

Hey everyone! Today I'm going to do a complete review of the Murad Acne & Aging Skin Solution pack that I talked to y'all about a little while back. (To read the first post, click here!) I started using everything on September 1st and I wanted to use them for an entire month before I did a full review. I also received the Intensive Resurfacing Peel in addition to the Skin Solution pack, so I've been using a total of 5 products. I used the Skin Solution pack twice daily and the Intensive Resurfacing Peel once a week.

I have always been self-conscious of my skin. Even though I haven't had super bad acne, I've dealt with tiny little bumps on my face that were extremely noticeable in any light and never went away. My face never felt smooth or looked completely clear. But since I didn't have "active" breakouts, nothing ever worked to get rid of them.. so I decided to just deal with the bumps, but it was still frustrating!

The Murad skincare line was developed by Dr. Howard Murad. Dr. Murad is a board-certified dermatologist, pharmacist, Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine (focusing on Dermatology) at UCLA, and is also widely considered to be one of the world's foremost authorities on skin health. I knew if anything could fix my skin problems, this was definitely a great product line to try.. especially since it promises you'll see results in as little as 3 days!

The Acne & Aging Skin Solution Pack contains travel sizes of the three-step process. It's a $63 value and retails for $45, for a savings of 28%. Murad is available on their website, at Ulta, both in-store and online, and at other retailers. Check Murad's website for a complete listing.

THE PRODUCTS:

STEP 1: TIME RELEASE ACNE CLEANSER
The Time Release Acne Cleanser contains 0.5% Salicylic Acid and is an extra-gentle, low foaming cleanser that improves skin's appearance by delivering a sustained release acne treatment (even after rinsing) and optimizing hydration to restore suppleness.

The cleanser is pale yellow and has a slightly thick consistency. It has a very light and pleasant sweet lemon scent. True to its claim, it is low (aka non) foaming cleanser. I've always preferred foamy cleansers because I feel that they cleanse better, but the Murad cleanser leaves my face feeling very clean and soft. All of my makeup gets removed in one wash, and it doesn't dry my face out at all.

The tube I have is 2.0 fl oz. After using it twice a day for a month, I still have approximately half of a tube left. A regular size tube is 6.75 fl oz and retails for $30.
STEP 2: ACNE SPOT TREATMENT
The Acne Spot Treatment contains 3.0% Sulfur and promotes immediate healing of blemishes by delivering targeted acne medication and providing on-the-spot relief.

The consistency on the Spot Treatment is a little thinner and runnier than the other products in the Skin Solution pack, but I feel like that helps it spread on your skin better. Seriously, with this stuff.. a little goes a long way! You can use it on any clean affected area 1-3 times a day. The sulfur does lend a noticeable smell to the product. It was extremely apparent to both me and Chris the first time I used it, but after that we've never been bothered by it again. I have also used it before going out in public and going to work and no one else has smelled it, so it isn't a bother in daily life.

I like that this really works to clear up acne fast. I have had actual active breakouts since using the Murad system, and it quickly draws the blemish to a head, which I then take care of with a skincare tool (see picture below). Once I've taken care of the blemish, the Acne Spot Treatment helps dry up anything left behind.
Skincare Tool
The Skin Solutions pack contained a 0.25 fl oz tube of Acne Spot Treatment, and have used it 1-3 times most days for the past month. If I didn't feel the need to use it, I didn't.. I still have approximately half of my tube left. A full size tube 0.5 fl oz and retails for $18.

STEP 2: ACNE & WRINKLE REDUCER
The Acne & Wrinkle Reducer contains 0.5% Salicylic Acid and is clinically proven to restore a clear, more youthful complexion by clearing congested pores and neutralizing acne-causing bacteria and diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

This one has a medium consistency, thicker than the Acne Spot Treatment, but thinner than the Time Release Acne Cleanser. However, it also has the same light, lemon smell that the Cleanser does. This was a product I used twice a day, and I feel like it helped my skin remain clear. Since I'm only 25, I don't have any fine lines or wrinkles yet (thankfully!) but.. it's never too early to start preventative anti-aging measures.

My product came in a tube instead of a pump bottle, but I don't think it would make much of a difference in how the product is dispensed. Well, despite the obvious.. My tube was 0.8 fl oz, and I still have just over half of it left after using it twice a day for the full month. A full size bottle is 2.0 fl oz and retails for $58.

STEP 3: ANTI-AGING MOISTURIZER SPF 20
The Anti-Aging Moisturizer contains SPF 20 is a multi-function, lightweight moisturizer and improves skin's appearance by fighting premature aging through advanced UV protection and healthy collagen support and by minimizing blemishes and oil production.

The Moisturizer has the same consistency as the Acne & Wrinkle Reducer. With both of those products, you don't need a lot to cover your entire face because they easily blend into your skin. This was a nice product, but I feel like it wasn't absolutely necessary for me. I use a tinted moisturizer with an SPF of 20, and I didn't see a point in putting this on before I went to bed since it has SPF in it. Still, I faithfully used it twice a day. I can say that it is non-greasy and didn't make my oily skin oilier.. even when I used it in conjunction with my tinted moisturizer.

My tube was 0.8 fl oz and I still have about half of it left, just like with the Acne & Wrinkle Reducer (they came in identical tubes). A full size tube is 1.7 fl oz and retails for $46.

FINAL THOUGHTS & VERDICT:
Overall, I really really love the way Murad has cleared up my skin. All of the residual bumps are gone, and my skin is so smooth I've even gone days without using a tinted moisturizer! People have been complimenting me on my skin for the past couple of weeks, and even asking me what I use! However, I think the best compliment of all was when the aestheticians at my work both told me that my skin looks amazing... on separate days. Hearing that literally made my day each time!

The 3-step system was very easy to follow because everything is numbered and was quick enough to do twice a day, even when I was feeling super lazy before I went to bed. I also like that the Murad Acne line has many more products than what I've talked about here so that you can fully customize a system to suit your needs. For example, I'd much rather pick a mask over the SPF Moisturizer next time. But I'm glad that I have the Moisturizer for days when I want to just use powder and skip my tinted moisturizer.

The only drawbacks I had were that I still have some residual blackheads that aren't obvious unless you're right in my face looking at my skin, but I was hoping that they would go away. And they are slowly diminishing with time. Hopefully they will all eventually disappear. The other problem was that I still broke out like crazy before my period. Granted, I wasn't really sure how well the Murad would be able to counteract my crazy hormones, but literally nothing I did helped or lessened the breakouts. They just had to go away on their own.

In conclusion, I am a HUGE fan of these products and I think that even though they are expensive, they certainly last a long time, as I tried to show you by telling you the product sizes I received compared to how often I used them and how much of them I have left. With all of these products, a little truly does go a long way and I think that speaks to their overall high quality.

Therefore, I give them a 4.5 out of 5 stars! The only thing keeping them from a 5 star rating was the week where I was miserable with my hormonal acne. But the most important testament is that I have already recommended these products to countless people and will purchase these products with my own money when I run out.
RATING: 4.5 out of 5 STARS

I use Orange Juice and Lime Juice.  YES!  From the supermarket.  Its works wonders to cleanse your face of harmful oils.  And i have sensitive skin, so this is perfect for me.  This link give more deets:
