Remembering September 11th...

Hey everyone! Today is the 6 month anniversary of my blog, and I promise that I'll be launching my giveaway later today.. but I wanted to take a minute first to remember September 11th and honor all those that lost their lives and loved ones on that tragic and fateful day, and those that have also paid the ultimate sacrifice because of the ongoing War on Terror.

Can you believe it's been 10 years? I'm sure everyone remembers where they were that morning... I was in high school; sophomore year, during 1st period World History. Another teacher ran in and turned on the TV then ran back out without saying a word. As she shut the door, we watched the second plane hit the World Trade Center live on national television.

At first, we didn't know what was going on. Was it a hoax? A cruel joke? Unfortunately, we quickly learned that what we were seeing on TV was all too real. Shock, anger and fear quickly took over. For the rest of the day, no teachers tried to teach. Periods passed by as we all sat, glued to the TV. After school, those of us that were members of the volunteering club sat down to brainstorm ways to raise money for vicitim's families or other causes...

Most importantly, I just remember that feeling of helplessness. America is one of the most powerful countries in the world. How someone could attack us like that was unfathomable to me at the time.

Ten years later, I think we've made a lot of progress as a nation, but I feel like we still have a long way to go. The people who lost their lives that day were truly heroes and should never be forgotten.

In this month's issue of Glamour magazine, they had a 9/11 tribute where people wrote letters to the loved ones they lost in the terror attacks. I strongly suggest reading through them, but make sure you have tissues handy.

What do you remember about 9/11? If you don't live in America, what were your opinions on it.. both then and now? As always, I love to hear your thoughts!

  1. Wow, I cannot believe it has been ten years!! It was such a terrible shock here too! I remember I was in year 4 and when I woke up all of the tv's were on, I didn't really understand fully what was going on! We watched it also in school for most of the day. The other day I saw the ads for the show I survived 9/11 and the ads made me tear up a litte! No way I could watch that show.. it is terrible, and something I'm sure the whole world will remember for years to come!

  2. Hard to believe it's been 10 years. I remember I was in 11th grade and didn't go to school til later in the day. I woke up and turned on the tv like I always did and saw they were talking about a plane crash...which is all i thought it was at first. I went to a couple other channels where they were talking about the same thing. I then realized this must be serious, and stopped on a channel and listened. I was in shock. I'll never forget that day, and how scary things quickly became.
