GET THE LOOK (For Less!) -- OPI's POTC Collection

OPI's Summer 2011 'Pirates of the Caribbean' Collection came out just over a month ago.. And while I hunted for weeks to snag myself a bottle of the elusive "Silver Shatter".. I just couldn't bring myself to buy the rest of the collection.

It's not that I don't love the colors, trust me I do.. but I'm nearing the 150-bottle mark in my stash, so I'm trying to limit myself on how many new polishes I buy. And I just couldn't justify spending $8.50 per bottle for the collection, so I had made peace with letting these slip by unpurchased until I saw this display in Rite-Aid today:

Y'all. I had a moment... in Rite-Aid. And it was embarrassing. In the middle of my squealing and happy dancing, one of the store associates actually came over and asked if I was okay. (I wasn't okay, I was humiliated!) But that's beside the point..

I'm just going to cut to the chase and tell you the exact dupes, the "sort of dupes", the OPI without a dupe, and then I'll list the extra random Sinful polishes for you. Here we go:

DUPES
OPI Mermaid's Tears -- Sinful Colors Open Seas
OPI Sparrow Me the Drama -- Sinful Colors Star Fish
OPI Planks a Lot -- Sinful Colors Verbena
OPI Stranger Tides -- Sinful Colors Seaweed

"SORT OF DUPES"
OPI Steady as She Rose -- Sinful Colors Easy Going
**The main difference between the two is that Steady as She Rose has a grey base, where as Easy Going is definitely a pale pink base.**

THE OPI WITHOUT A DUPE
OPI Skull & Glossbones

OTHER RANDOM SINFUL 'ADVENTURE ISLAND' POLISHES
Beautiful Girl -- Medium Bright Pink
Adventure Island -- Reminiscent of a pastel "Shrek" Green
Rise & Shine -- Turquoise/Teal

And that's it! I got 4 Sinful polishes (Easy Going, Star Fish, Open Seas & Verbena) for the cost of ONE OPI polish. I'm so happy! I can't wait to play with my Silver Shatter over these and see how they turn out!

Will you be snatching up any of the Sinful Dupes? Or have you already bought the OPI collection? Let me know!

  3. Great post lady!!! Love the dupe list. I, too, want the silver shatter and am also keeping my eyes peeled for it.

You know what's funny? I am actually not a fan of this collection that much! I don't really like pastels for mail polish. Weird right? Except for the mint green.....

  4. Thanks, love! Sally Hansen has a silver crackle polish that might actually be better than OPIs. I know it's less expensive..

You know, for $8-9 a bottle, I wasn't a fan of this collection either. I'm with you on the pastels: they're totally not my thing. But I feel like these colors have a certain 'dirtiness' to them that makes them a little different than your average pastel.. and I mean, getting all the dupes for the cost of 1 regular bottle makes it totally worth it. Haha! ♥

  6. I don't know if they did.. However, 'Wild Thing' by Pure Ice is a pretty good dupe for "Who the Shrek are You?"

Also.. my Ulta just put the Shrek collection on clearance, so you might be able to find it discounted now! ♥

  7. This made me chuckle- if OPI's in Australia were $8.50 I would have hundreds of them!!! Instead I have about 25 each at a hefty $19.99 (or less), but some I did pay full price for. *sigh* Btw USD and AUD are about equal atm, so OMG!
