REVIEW -- Olay Shine Control Lathering Cleanser

I bought the Olay Pore Minimizing Cleanser + Scrub on a whim about a month ago, and I really like it. It does seem to minimize my pores and it doesn't make my face oily. But I decided that I wanted to try switching back to less of a "scrub" and try a normal cleanser. I decided to try this since it is oil free, supposed to control shine (aka oil) and it's a lathering cleanser.

I picked Olay's Shine Control Cleanser up at WalMart. It is a very thick, pearlescent cleanser that is highly perfumed. However, unlike the Pore Minimizing Cleanser + Scrub, this actually smells like a perfume as opposed to laundry detergent. I can't remember the exact price, but I feel like it was between $5-7. The back of the tube says:
Shine Control Lathering Cleanser deep cleans to purify skin's surface with the cleansing power of a mack, in an everyday form that minimizes shine. This detoxifying mud cleanser lathers and rinses like a daily deep cleanser for thoroughly purified, clean skin. Dermatologically tested.
I quickly learned that a little bit of this cleanser goes a long way. Since it is so thick, it takes forever to spread around with your hands and work it into some sort of lather on your face. And it takes even longer to rinse off. I always use my hands to rinse my face, but I've found using a wash cloth to rinse this one off is really beneficial. It also makes your face feel.. overly cleaned? Not in a drying way, mind you. It hasn't over-dried my face at all. But.. I don't know. I've been trying to think of a way to explain it and the best way I can come up with is that if you try to run your hands over your face, you can't do it smoothly because they get stuck. Same with your hands, and I have to wash my hands with hand soap immediately after washing my face to get them back to normal. However, I will say that I think it takes my face longer to become oily after using this product as opposed to using other face washes.

I read through pages of reviews on the Olay site, and no one else seemed to have the "over cleaning" complaint that I do. So, maybe it's just me? Besides that, I do like the cleanser... Maybe not enough to repurchase it, but I'll definitely use up the tube that I bought. I'd say if you're on the fence about buying it, definitely give it a try. I'm not displeased with it, I'm just not in love with it like I was hoping I would be.
